SERENARTS PROGRAM

The SerenArts initiative was launched by Serena Hotels in March 2012. The first exhibition at Satrang Gallery was on the 11th of March to coincide with the 10th Anniversary of the Serena Hotel in Islamabad. The initiative is dedicated to supporting and promoting Pakistani artists and artisans and to offer a platform to showcase and provide market access to their works.

In the short time of seven months the Satrang Gallery, as part of the SerenArts programme, has established itself as the leading Art Gallery in Islamabad and is already being talked about in the Art circles in the Country.  The SerenArts team has worked in a consistent and strategic manner to maximize the press coverage of all its events. Articles have been published about the SerenArts programme and Satrang Gallery in Pakistan’s leading newspapers including Dawn, The News, The Express Tribune, The Daily Times, The Nation and The Pakistan Observer.  Gallery Opening events have been covered by GT magazine and The Friday Times. PTV, Geo, Dunya, ARY, Sama TV, and BBC. The Chitrali tapestries and Calligraphy exhibitions have got extensive TV coverage.

Visitors to Satrang Gallery have included people from all walks of life, from diplomats, art college students, international organizations, civil society, and bureaucrats to hotel guests. Satrang Gallery is playing an important role in taking art to the common people. Extensive catalogues are produced for each exhibition of Satrang Gallery that are given to each visitor to the gallery.

Encouraging Emerging Young Talent: The exhibitions at Satrang have all been curated on the basis of giving a chance to young emerging talent to showcase their work alongside some senior artists thereby attracting a great clientele of art lovers. This is a huge achievement for young graduates to get this opportunity to show their work at a Gallery of repute and next to senior established artists. The presence of senior artists helps to establish the repute of the Gallery.
